Now users can sign up for a FREE account, sans ads.

Back to basics. Came across this video below from Common Craft. It’s difficult to explain how a search engine works in words. Therefore, a graphical story helps to grasp cerebral concepts. The video (called “Web Search Strategies in Plain English”) discusses phrase searching, refining keywords, and excluding keywords to help you find what you need.

The Web is abuzz with the announcement that Yahoo! News and ABC have created an “information alliance”. This post from TechCrunch discusses the partnership and how it may compete with CNN and Huffington Post. TechCrunch reports that the joint effort will provide Web-only exclusives at times. It’s estimated that Yahoo! News has an audience of 100 million users. NPR indicates that the alliance will debut with a presidential chat this afternoon. The interview will be webcast live on Yahoo.com and ABCNews.com today at 2:35 p.m. ET.

Twitter, the microblogging service, that launched a mere five years ago now claims that it has 100 million active users, according to the Official Twitter Blog. Who exactly users Twitter? Twitter lists leaders, atheletes, humanitarians, entertainers, reporters. etc. Remember, too, that Twitter is a search engine.

Twitter a communication tool – - a hybrid between IM and email. It’s a marketing and publicity vehicle. It’s an instigator of revolutions. It has been involved with politician’s indescretions, etc. Remember that it’s a bonafide, real-time search engine, too.
